Carbon neutral climate chambers for the laboratory!
Ozone depletion and global warming caused by refrigerant emission has in recent years
led to drastic changes in refrigeration and air conditioning industries.
New Innovation: Carbon neutral climatic chamber KK50 FDA(firmenpresse) - Environmental organizations and climate change programs are now calling for the use of more natural refrigerants. Thermodynamic properties, safety requirements and efficiency considerations, however, severely limit the alternatives, specifically for high-performance equipment with large cooling capacity, such as precision environmental chambers.
Kambic’s engineers have now succeeded in developing a system that uses the ozone-friendly refrigerant R600a (isobutane), while at the same time retaining highest performance and maximum safety during operation and maintenance.
The R600a refrigerant has no ODP (ozone depletion potential), an extremely low GWP (global warming potential), excellent thermodynamic characteristics for maximum energy efficiency, as well as other favorable properties such as good compatibility with lubricants typically used in refrigeration systems.
R600a has been in circulation since 1992 and is used in more than 250 million cooling systems, mainly in the household appliances sector.
Since the refrigerant is flammable, legislation permits the use of a maximum of 150g per system, posing a challenge for rapid cooling and good performance.
The pioneering new development of an innovative cooling system by "Kambic Laboratory Equipment Ltd." has made it possible to utilize this environmentally friendly refrigerant in a range of climate chambers and incubators, which to date is unparalleled worldwide.
