The recent being in the fatherhood really cheered him up, so I approached him to congratulate and gave my blessing to his newborn daughter Max. Conversations on work should be evaded in line with the dos and don't of the host, especially in the presence of celebrity like Mark Zuckerberg. A lively and pleasant atmosphere prompted Mark to talk a lot about his fun in life including his daughter Max, the charity cause that named after his wife Chen Zuckerberg Initiative, even he mentioned Beast, his beloved pet dog, by showing us some interesting pictures of jogging with him. Like his owner Mark, Beast is also a keen enthusiast of running.
Running has undoubtedly brought much joy to him, as each city he explored left the footprint and a running record. I noticed from one of a running APP that covers the cities he traced including Berlin, Barcelona, Delhi, etc. and it took me by surprise that he also ran in Beijing, a city that has long been plagued by severe air pollution. Mark replied it was not as bad as he imagined when he passed by the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, but by comparison, air quality in Delhi has worsened. Normally he would go for a run on a friendly weather condition. On one occasion in Berlin, one of his friends slipped on an icy road and injured that really got his attention.
On mentioning running, Mark expressed great passion and disclosed a stunning idea. He loves browsing pictures shared by runners from different corners of the world, a chance for him to appreciate various types of scenery and experience local culture. Of course, it is also his wish to mark his footsteps in all the scenic spots worldwide. Ambitious it looks, it is not without possibilities. VR, a technology he would like to apply to the field of running that makes it possible for runners to choose the route and the location on the treadmill at home. It is such a fabulous thought, as one does not need to run out to see the world. At present, Oculus is equipped with the state-of-art technology and has the potential to make such product a reality, despite the fact that VR is not made for sports yet. According to Mark, he deems that VR technology is installed on the treadmill and receives the signal from the mainframe machine from a portable and wearable device to realize VR running experience, however, the hardware is still the greatest barrier. Once this pipe dream becomes a reality, it is for sure a scientific revolution on human sports technology.
