Consortium, including Heijmans, receives provisional contract award for A27/A1 Project

The Dutch Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management
(Rijkswaterstaat) has provisionally selected the 3Angle consortium, comprising
Heijmans, Fluor and 3i Infrastructure, for the A27/A1 Public Private Partnership
Project. This PPP contract comprises the design, construction, management and
maintenance, and the financing of the reconstruction of the A27 motorway between
Utrecht North and the Eemnes junction, as well as the A1 motorway between the
Eemnes junction and the Bunschoten-Spakenburg connection. The project's contract
value amounts to approximately ? 220 million (including management and
maintenance for a period of 25 years), 50% of which is for the account of
Heijmans.
The A27/A1 project will improve traffic circulation and safety on the A27 and A1
motorways, while retaining the quality of the living environment. The project
among other things includes the widening of the A27 from 2x2 to 2x3 lanes, as
well as the widening of the A1 from 2x2 to 2x4 lanes. 3Angle will also widen the
A27-A1 connecting curve within the Eemnes junction.
Rijkswaterstaat expects to grant final project contract award by the end of
July, with a financial close expected in October. The project is to be completed
by mid-2019.
