Australians Alerted to ‘Possums Moving Indoor’ as Possum Season Arrives

​As the Australian winter is well advanced, it is high time to ensure properties are ‘possum proofed’ in order to stop them entering and seeking shelter in the warmer conditions of a roof cavity.

(firmenpresse) - After months of enjoying the summer nights roaming the outdoors on balmy Sydney evenings, the onset of cooler winter conditions bring with it the signal for the local possum community to look for warmer shelter. Roofs are a possums favourite.

Common brush tail possums are active at night, tree loving marsupials that are native to Australia. It is the second largest of the possums found today. Possums mainly feed on vegetation such as leaves, flowers and fruits. In most Australian locations eucalyptus leaves are a significant part of the diet.

Possums are very adaptable and can thrive in urban habitat as well as a wide range of natural and human-modified environments. They are very inventive and determined. They have a liking for fruit trees, vegetable patches and are often found by home owners raiding the kitchen.

Mr Adler said, €œGiven the commotion and destructive activities that possums get up to in ceiling spaces and around the house, it is critical that a possum removal professional is called before they establish themselves.€ He went on to say, €œGiven their fighting nature when cornered, home and business owners should think twice about trying to capture them themselves."
