With the "best practice: Innovations 2016" award, the trade journal LOGISTRA acknowledges innovations in intralogistics and the commercial vehicle sector. In this respect, the editorial staff selects products which have attracted particular attention in the past few months. The joint project ?DoKEP Side-protection net? of Dolezych, Kögel and TÜV NORD was also amongst them this time. Kögel uses the side-protection net as a light and easy-to-use alternative and replacement for aluminium and wooden slats. This convinced the judges, and Kögel is therefore the winner in the transport security category.
Information on the side-protection net
Only 0.3 x the weight force of the permissible payload was previously required, but the current edition of Daimler Directive 9.5 now includes the following demands: Commercial vehicles must absorb a static lateral force amounting to 0.4 x the weight force of the permissible payload of the side walls. In this respect, the side tarpaulins may not elastically deform more than 300 millimetres in the tests. Kögel was one of the first trailer manufacturers to pass this static test. A side-protection net which replaces the aluminium or wooden slats makes this possible. The joint project ?DoKEP Side-protection net? was on show at the stand of the load safety manufacturer Dolezych from Dortmund at the IAA 2014 with Kögel and TÜV NORD. TÜV NORD has confirmed the side-protection net as an alternative and replacement for aluminium and wooden slats in a Kögel semi-trailer and certified it in accordance with DIN EN 12642 code XL with approval for beverages and Daimler Directive 9.5 Issue 2014.

The side-protection net in the Kögel semi-trailer not only contributes to securing the load but also reduces the weight of the semi-trailer, because the nets weigh considerably less than the support laths normally required. Furthermore, handling is simplified, which also reduces the risk of injury. Another advantage: The eight side-protection nets required for each semi-trailer can be easily stored in the toolbox with minimum space requirements. It goes without saying that the side-protection net in Kögel trailers can be combined with other load-securing packages.
