This endeavour is an ongoing project founded by Kasia Redzisz, the senior curator of the Tate Liverpool in the UK.
A Marriage of Pleasures
The goal of ‘The Art of the Treasure Hunt’ is to offer an experience that ‘oscillates between the old and the new’, according to Redzisz. Small groups tours of Italy and some of its finest wineries allow visitors to ‘contemplate contemporary art in the shadow of ancient cellars while savouring new [olive] oil and tasting ageing wine.’ Thus a marriage of two of Tuscany’s greatest products is made.
Many of these wineries have stood for hundreds of years and have needed very little updating to continue producing some of the finest wines in the Tuscan region. The introduction of masterful modern art pieces created by artists from all over the world truly sets the scene for a very unique experience.
