(firmenpresse) - PETERSBURG, VA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/22/16 -- founder and owner welcomes students to a program designed specifically for home-school families and groups this fall. Aimed at educating students while having fun, these programs will take place Tuesday, Sept. 6 and Thursday, Sept. 22.

"Home-School Tours at Pamplin Historical Park are a great way for students and their families to experience the Civil War firsthand," said Pamplin. "These special programs include participatory learning techniques to teach historical lessons about life in the 19th century."

These full-day programs are specifically designed for children in grades three through 12, where Park educators will lead these multi-age groups in three hands-on programs. The programs for the days include Duty Called Me Here, A Soldier's Life and Plantation Life.

The Duty Called Me Here exhibit will bring the students face-to-face with the experiences of the nearly three million Americans who became soldiers during the Civil War. A Soldier's Life will show the participants what it was like to take part in a military drill and experience the elements that made up a Civil War soldier's war experience. The third program will be Plantation Life where visitors will see how free and enslaved Virginia families lived more than 150 years ago. The program also includes time to visit museum exhibits.

Pamplin Historical Park's 2016 Home-School Days take place Tuesday, Sept. 6 and Thursday, Sept. 22, starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00 p.m. The registration fee is $10.50 per adult, $9.00 per child (grades K-12) and children ages five and under are free. Participants need to bring a lunch. Advance registration is required. For more information, visit or to register, visit
