TEKES FUNDING FOR STONESOFT'S RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

STONESOFT CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE DECEMBER 10, 2010 AT 11.30 AM
Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation has decided to
fund Stonesoft Corporation's research and development project "Dynamic network
security" with more than one million Euros. The funding is distributed mainly
during the years 2011 and 2012.
The goals of the research and product development project in question are
detection and prevention of new dynamic network security threats, adapting
security systems to mobile networks with Internet traffic, implementing
effective protection also in less critical networks and managing the ever
increasing information flow in data networks.
"We are very pleased with the funding decision of Tekes, because the granted
funding considerably accelerates the completion of the project. We believe that
this research project allows us to improve the competitiveness of our products
and to offer our customers increasingly better protection against new, dynamic
security threats", Ilkka Hiidenheimo, the CEO of Stonesoft.
The decision of Tekes was based on, among other, the following grounds: the
project has a significant impact on the business development of the company. The
novelty value of the innovation strived for in the project is internationally
significant, and the Tekes funding is a prerequisite for the realization of the
project and its impact.
The granted funding has no impact on the company's previous estimate regarding
the operating result of the year 2010.
