Kesko's sales increased in October
Kesko Group's sales in October 2016 totalled ?944.9 million and were up 26.2%.
In comparable terms, sales in local currencies decreased by 2.4%, excluding the
impact of Suomen Lähikauppa and Onninen.
"Kesko's sales increased in October due to acquisitions. Sales performance in
the Finnish grocery trade and the Finnish building and technical trade was
weakened by the fact that there was one less delivery day compared to the
previous year," says Kesko's President and CEO Mikko Helander.
The sales of the grocery trade in October were ?449.2 million and increased by
11.1%. Suomen Lähikauppa excluded, the sales of the grocery trade were ?385.2
million, representing a comparable change of -4.8%. The sales performance was
affected by the number of delivery days, as well as All Saints' Day falling in
November unlike the year before.
The sales of the building and technical trade in October were ?420.4 million, up
51.1%. Excluding Onninen, the sales of the building and technical trade were
?269.8 million, down 3.0% in local currencies. In Finland, sales excluding
Onninen were down by 4.9%. Outside Finland, sales excluding Onninen decreased by
0.9% in local currencies. The sales of the building and home improvement trade
increased by 0.3% in local currencies. The sales of the leisure trade decreased
by 2.2% in Finland and the sales of the agricultural and machinery trade were
down by 13.1%.
The sales of the car trade in October were ?75.3 million, up 16.2% from the
previous year.

corresponding period of the previous year in local currencies and excluding the
impact of acquisitions and disposals.
In October 2016, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland was
21, which was one less than in the previous year. The total number of selling
days in January-October was one more than in the previous year.
