Indian Inventor Makes Huge Gains in Plastic Pollution Problem
A man in India just created a shopping bag that may help reduce the world's plastic pollution problem.
(firmenpresse) - The amount of plastic the world throws away is becoming a monumental problem as the discarded plastic bags, bottles and other trash accumulates in the oceans, waterways and sewer drains. This not only causes pollution, but an estimated 100 million marine animals are killed every year by strangulation by the bags, or because they mistake them for food and eat them.
But a man in India named Ashwath Hegde has just invented a sustainable plastic bag that may one day change all of that. He says he did so because he understands the need to eliminate the disposable bags, but many people in India cant afford to purchase reusable shopping bags.

Its forward thinking like this that will one day provide solutions for our environmental crisis.
The bags, which are called the EnviGreen Bag, are sustainable because unlike disposable plastic bags, they break down easily. Just thrown away, the bags will degrade in six months, and if theyre exposed to room temperature water, they only take a day to degrade. And it gets even better. If the bags are placed in a pot of boiling water, they dissolve instantly. The bags are made of nontoxic ingredients like vegetable oil derivatives, natural starch, banana, and tapioca, and are entirely edible.
