(Thomson Reuters ONE) -

CORNING, N.Y., March 14, 2017 - Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) today announced
that it was recently recognized by the 2017 Lightwave Innovation Reviews for its
MiniXtend(®) cable with binderless* FastAccess(®) technology.

Presented annually by Lightwave, the Lightwave Innovation Reviews program
distinguishes top products and solutions available within the optical networking
industry as determined by a panel of third-party judges. Judges include industry
executives and analysts from a wide variety of service providers, technology
developers, industry analysts, and journalists.

The recognized MiniXtend cables combine Corning's micro cabling solution with
its time-saving binderless FastAccess technology. Designed for installation in
microduct systems using air-assisted installation methods, the cables are up to
50 percent smaller than standard loose-tube cables and offer high fiber counts
in a small footprint. FastAccess technology is a groundbreaking innovation in
cable design that eliminates the use of a binder, waterblocking yarns, and
waterblocking tapes. It also enables up to 70 percent faster cable access and
reduced risk of buffer tube damage.

"On behalf of the Lightwave Innovation Reviews, I would like to congratulate
Corning on their score," said Rob Stuehrk,  Lightwave Group publisher. "The
judges noted the MiniXtend cable's small diameter was particularly noteworthy
and beneficial to users.  And, one of the judges commented that duct space is
rapidly vanishing, in no small part because installing new duct is becoming cost
- and regulation - prohibitive. The ability to fit 144 fibers into 8.1mm bodes
well for the MiniXtend cable and, of course, for the organizations that use it."

"Corning has once again developed a notable product that facilitates
installation in this growing market, and Lightwave is proud to have played a

part in its recognition," Stuehrk added.

"We are excited to receive this honor, and especially proud that such a
distinguished panel of judges recognizes the value our MiniXtend cable
provides," said John Igel, vice president and general manager, Corning Optical
Fiber and Cable. "We look forward to providing our customers with even more
groundbreaking products, helping to address the tough challenges they see
daily."

Corning will highlight its latest fiber and cabling innovations, including the
newest enhancement to the award-winning MiniXtend product family and FastAccess
technology portfolio, at the 2017 Optical Networking and Communication
Conference & Exhibition (OFC), March 21-23 in Los Angeles.
