In April of each year, there is nowhere better to be than the superb French resort of Avoriaz in the heart of the Portes du Soleil region. Why, I hear you ask? Well, you’ll be interested to discover that they close the season in style with a spectacular closing party, during which the world-famous superpipe is transformed into a cool new snowpark. The snowpark attracts pros and amateurs from around the world for one unforgettable final session. This creates a thrilling and electric atmosphere to end the season with a bang!
Pipe Ground
During the season, the 120m long and 6m high superpipe (which is one of the last of its kind in France) is used by the pros for training and competitions. This will all change for Pipe Ground this April, when the Avoriaz Snowzone team get to work and create jumps, rails, steep turns and plenty more new features within the half pipe - the idea is to get the pipe looking like a snow-shaped skate park where everyone can have a go. So, get your buddies together and make sure that you do not miss out on this unique experience.

Pipe Ground will be taking place in Avoriaz at the very end of the season, from Saturday the 1st of April through to Sunday the 23rd of April – this is the last chance to shred some powder before the resort closes! The ground is shaped into the half pipe for the entirety of April, so I recommend looking for last minute ski deals to Avoriaz for this time.
Pipe Ground will begin with a week of professional shooting, where the pros will use their expertise to test the possibilities of the bowl. In the mornings following this, participants will get exclusive access to the bowl, but it is then open to the public for the rest of the day to check out.
What to Expect
In addition to exclusive access each morning, the Pipe Ground Camp will host freestyle training for both ski and snowboard participants; this will be supervised by state registered coaches in Avoriaz’s epic snowparks.
Pro-riders will be arriving each week in April to shred powder and share sporty and freestyle themed activities (such as skating at the skatepark, video corrections and trampolining) with participants. So far, this includes huge names such as Joffrey Pollet-Villard, Johan Baisamy and Sam Favret! This is a fantastic opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the hottest names in the alpine world, whilst also honing your skills in a fun and unique atmosphere.
