Anne Frank House Secret Annex Online nominated for two Webby Awards

The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences announced on 12 April
that the Anne Frank House has been nominated twice in the 15th Annual Webby
Awards. The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence
on the Internet. Out of nearly 10,000 entries from all 50 US states and over 60
countries there are approximately 340 nominations. The Anne Frank House Secret
Annex Online has been nominated in the categories Best Cultural Institutions and
Best Visual Design - Function. LBi Lost Boys and the Anne Frank House developed
The Secret Annex Online in close cooperation.
The Anne Frank House
The Secret Annex Online is a 3D version of Anne Frank's hiding place. In this
three-dimensional online environment, visitors from all over the world can
explore the entire building as it was during World War II. But this is not just
a 3D experience. The stories of the people in hiding are told in the places
where they happened to allow visitors to experience the authentic atmosphere.
Actresses' voices recreate the fear, misery and grief as well as the humor
experienced in hiding for two years, making it almost tangible. The Anne Frank
story has captivated audiences worldwide. Her wartime diary, written in hiding
in Nazi occupied Amsterdam is one of the most translated and best read books in
the world. As millions of others Anne Frank did not survive the horrors of the
concentration camps.
At its launch in April 2010, the Secret Annex Online received immediate and
substantial attention from national and international media. Since then, almost
800,000 people have visited the website. Visitors spend an average of around 17
(!) minutes on the site.
Webby People's Voice Award: Cast your vote
As a nominee, the Anne Frank House Secret Annex Online is also eligible for a
Webby People's Voice Award. It can be voted for online by the public from April
13(th) until April 28(th). The Anne Frank House can be voted for in both

Winners will be announced May 3rd, 2011 and honored at a star-studded ceremony
in New York City on June 13(th).
Official Honorees
In recognition of the exceptional quality of submissions received this year, the
Academy has acknowledged outstanding entries as Official Honorees, alongside the
Nominees and Winners. The Official Honoree distinction is awarded to the top
10% of all work entered that exhibits remarkable achievement. The Anne Frank
house has been selected as an Official Honoree in the Best Visual Design -
Aesthetic category. The Anne Frank Facebook Quotes Application has been selected
as an Official Honoree in the Rich Media: Non-Profit/Educational category. To
