(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
Stephen J. Adler unveils all-star leadership team to run Reuters News
New York, April 19, 2011 Thomson Reuters announced today the appointment of
Pulitzer Prize-winner Paul Ingrassia and former Time Magazine managing editor
Jim Gaines as key members of Editor-in-Chief Stephen J. Adler's new leadership
team.
Stuart Karle, former general counsel of The Wall Street Journal, and Reg Chua,
former editor-in-chief of The South China Morning Post, have also signed on in
senior positions.
The new members join Chrystia Freeland, editor for Thomson Reuters Digital; Amy
Stevens, executive editor for Professional News; Reuters Breakingviews editor
Hugo Dixon; and Adrian Dickson, global editor for editorial product, on Adler's
senior team.
The appointments accompany an editorial reorganization that separates content
from operations to enable Reuters to plan coverage in a more unified, coherent
manner while strengthening the operations that are designed to support it.
"To become the world's leading source of news, we must be second to none in
speed, accuracy, relevance, and fairness, but also-and crucially-in enterprise,
insight, analysis, and originality," Adler said. "Our extraordinary combination
of new and existing talent, along with a stronger organization to support them,
will help us achieve all these goals."
Here is more information about the new appointees and their roles:
* Paul Ingrassia, a Pulitzer Prize-winning automotive writer and former
president of Dow Jones Newswires, has been named deputy editor-in-chief to
oversee news content creation;
* Jim Gaines, former managing editor of Time, Life and People magazines, will
become ethics, standards and innovation editor to articulate and enforce the
highest standards of accuracy, fairness, and sound reporting practices,
while spurring incisive journalism;
* Stuart Karle, former general counsel to The Wall Street Journal, will become
chief operating officer to oversee all support functions for the news
organization; and
* Reginald Chua, previously editor-in-chief of The South China Morning Post,

rich data trove.
This announcement follows the recent appointment of Stephen J. Adler as editor-
in-chief of Reuters News.
