Arvato offers guidance for omnichannel

Gütersloh – To support companies in fulfilling their omnichannel po-tential, Arvato has developed a free Omnichannel Readiness Quick-Check tool. The new analysis tool consists of 39 questions covering six specialist fields. It reveals any areas wherein retailers still have room for improvement when it comes to linking all sales channels.

(firmenpresse) - Omnichannel is no longer a vision of the future; it is the reality of shopping today. Customers expect to be able to buy items online which have sold out in stores or return items bought online to a store. However, many retailers are not set up for this, as demonstrated by the Omnichannel report 2016, which Arvato published in cooperation with the Salesforce Commerce Cloud and WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. "Many companies still use archaic and non-networked IT systems", explains Marcus Karten, Vice President of Global Business Development, Consumer Products at Arvato SCM Solutions. "This is also because in many places there is still a silo mentality, in which various departments work completely independently of one another."

Companies need guidance

In light of the major challenge switching to omnichannel, companies often do not know where to start. Many retailers already fulfil the essential require-ments without being fully aware, for example by having highly productive logistics or a high quality online shop store. The Omnichannel Consulting Team at Arvato have developed the analytical Quick-Check tool precisely for identifying this potential. The online questionnaire, with a total of 39 ques-tions, goes through the specialist fields of Organisation, Online Store and Apps, Warehousing and Logistics, IT and Data, as well as Stores.

This 360-degree view of one's own company illustrates areas in need of im-provement in a transparent fashion. "Many stores could, for example, al-ready serve as collection points for online orders", says Marcus Karten. "However, the warehouse stock is often not transparent enough to process customers' Click&Collect orders directly from the store's stock. Our Quick-Check tool covers precisely these blind spots." The participants receive an immediate evaluation of their results within the tool at the end of the ques-tionnaire. For a more in-depth analysis, an expanded 200-question evalua-tion tool is available and highlights the omnichannel potential in more detail.
