Tieto's second Corporate Responsibility report based on GRI's (Global Reporting
Initiative) framework has been published. This year (2010) the application level
is a B+. The report covers the economic, social and environmental areas and
describes the objectives and main achievements as well as management approach to
issues that are considered to be material to Tieto's stakeholders. Among the
main achievements are the increased number of sustainability offerings, which
have reduced customers' CO2 equivalent emissions more than Tieto emits from its
own operations.
"Information and communication technology (ICT) equipment and services consume
over 8 percent of electrical power in the EU and produce about 4 percent of its
CO2 emissions. However, Smart IT can help reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In
our Corporate Responsibility Report 2010, we present the results of our total
CO2 equivalent emission inventory as well as an estimate of how much Tieto's
services have reduced CO2 emissions for customers," says Carl-Harald Andersson,
Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Responsibility.
Other highlights in the report are the investments in new generation data
centres and increased carbon inventory data coverage, which now encompasses more
than 84 percent of employees. In the social area can be mentioned the internal
launch of a platform for sharing and developing ideas. The platform has
increased communication and collaboration across country borders and resulted in
several new IT solution prototypes.
Tieto's Corporate Responsibility Report 2010 is assured in accordance with the
AA1000 Assurance Standard (2008) by an external auditor. The report is available
