Ever since the acquisition of Focal Point from IBM, UNICOM Global has continued its investment in the solution by delivering six major releases of the product in the last two years. Focal Point version 7.2 is the latest release of the series with major enhancements to platform support, security, scalability and digital transformation. Focal Point version 7.2 includes a mobile application via adoption of UNICOM’s UX4 technology to render UI components on mobile and handheld devices.
Focal Point version 7.2 is upgraded to run on Apache Tomcat® 8, WebSphere® Application Server 9.0 and Java 8, which enhances the scalability of the product under concurrent environments and the security of the product by supporting TLS 2.0 standard. Focal Point version 7.2 also comes with enhanced collaborative features, including the ability to subscribe for change notifications in the UI and the ability to search and tag other users in comments for their feedback. The ability to customize the UI has been greatly improved with the introduction of custom charts as plugins to the tool.
