Thomson Reuters Extel Survey 2011: UK Small & Mid-Cap Results
London, 8 June 2011 - Thomson Reuters today announced the results of its UK
Small & Mid-Cap Survey as voted for in the 38th Thomson Reuters Extel Survey.
The report highlights the key opinions and trends in the market for UK-listed
companies with a market capitalisation below $1 billion.
The Thomson Reuters Extel Survey on UK Small & Mid-Caps provides rankings of
stockbrokers across sales, trading and research for 17 industry sectors.
Investec Securities was voted the leading brokerage firm for UK Small & Mid-
Caps for the second year running, closely pursued by Peel Hunt with Numis
Securities ranked third overall.
Voting was conducted primarily online and ran from 6 March to 7 May 2011. It
reflects the contribution of over 270 buyside firms, representing nearly 95% of
the total assets under management held in UK Small & Mid-Cap equities. All data,
votes received and methodology applied were independently checked and verified
by Deloitte.
"The particular demands of the UK Small & Mid-Cap market remains very clear. The
strong participation by asset managers across the sectors and categories
demonstrates that the buyside is seeking focused expertise, company access and
market advice. The Extel data, based on many thousands of votes, provides a real
