EXPERIENCED CORPORATE EXECUTIVE AND FORMER PILBARA MINERALS CFO JOINS THE SPITFIRE BOARD
Spitfire Materials Limited (ASX: SPI) is pleased to announce the appointment of highly experienced company director and corporate executive, Mr Alan Boys, as a non-executive Director and Chairman of the Company with effect from 1 August 2017.
Mr Boys has been a Chartered Accountant for 32 years, initially in public practice, where his final role was as partner with an international Big 4 accounting firm.
Following his retirement from public practice in 1998, he has been engaged with mining exploration companies involved in commodities including mineral sands, uranium, gold, iron ore and lithium in roles as Director, Company Secretary and Chief Financial Officer. During his career, he has been involved with projects ranging from early exploration through to BFS, including projects in Australia, Mali and Chile.
Mr Boys was a founder and Company Secretary of the prominent Malian gold explorer Oklo Resources Limited (ASX: OKU) from 2007 through 2014. From October 2014 through to mid-2016, he was Company Secretary and CFO for the leading Australian lithium developer Pilbara Minerals Limited (ASX: PLS), working closely alongside current Spitfire Directors Neil Biddle and John Young during Pilbaras rapid evolution from junior explorer to emerging lithium producer and now leading mid-tier miner.
Spitfires Managing Director John Young said the Company was delighted that Alan had accepted the role of Chairman as it embarked on an aggressive exploration and growth strategy in the Australian gold sector.
As a founder and director of our recently acquired subsidiary, Admiral Gold Limited, Alan has been closely involved with all of our key projects, Mr Young said. He brings extensive experience in the junior resources sector, as well as broader corporate expertise which will be invaluable in assisting us as we plan and execute the rapid transformation of the Company.
