The Norwegian Maritime Directorate chooses EDB ErgoGroup

(Oslo, 14 June, 2011) The Norwegian Maritime Directorate has signed an agreement
with EDB ErgoGroup for operations and administration services for its IT
operating platform. EDB ErgoGroup will be responsible over the next four years
for the operation and administration of the Maritime Directorate's IT platform,
the network linking its head office and stations, and IP telephony. The
agreement represents total contract value of NOK 25 million.
"This agreement gives EDB ErgoGroup complete operational responsibility,
including client and mobile solutions. We intend to deliver a flexible, state-
of-the-art platform, and we expect to see continuing development in both usage
and functionality over the coming years", comments Thorolf Thorstensen, Head of
Global IT Operations at EDB ErgoGroup.
"This is an important agreement for the Maritime Directorate. We are very
dependent on access to secure and reliable IT services that deliver excellent
performance day after day", comments John Malvin Økland, Department Head at the
Norwegian Maritime Directorate.
Three criteria were critical for the Maritime Directorate's decision to choose
EDB ErgoGroup:
- Satisfaction in full of the Maritime Directorate requirement specification and
the quality of the supplier's solutions specification
- Implementation plan together with the expertise, experience and capacity of
the resources to be made available for the assignment
- Price
EDB ErgoGroup welcomes this contract as an exciting gateway to new areas. There
is a clear trend for increasing number of users to demand mobile devices that
deliver access to a full range of applications that they can use for all their
routine daily tasks, and this places new demands on the delivery of IT services.

solutions for the Maritime Directive, and this will involve developing and
operating mobile solutions for new areas of application", comments Thorolf
