Plug-and-play installation makes network security easy, fast and inexpensive for
multi-location businesses
Helsinki, 15 June 2011 - Stonesoft introduces a new, revolutionary solution for
the mass deployment, tuning and upkeep of network security. The StoneGate Mass
Security solution has been designed to meet the security needs of small branch
and remote offices and/or unattended locations. The solution provides
substantial savings for highly distributed organizations with limited IT
resources.
The new features offered by the StoneGate Mass Security solution include Plug &
Play installation, firewall element creation wizard, the possibility to define
the initial policy for single firewalls as part of the initial configuration as
well as improved scalability. The installation process does not require any
synchronization between the HQ administrator and the remote office - the shop
clerk or office manager can just plug the firewall appliance in, without the
need for security competence or external resources.

personnel resources. The installation and configuration of security systems
requires expertise and time, and there is always the risk of human error. We
wanted to solve these challenges and offer a cost-efficient, easy-to-use
solution that can be rapidly deployed at even unattended locations and does not

Efficient installation, tuning and upkeep
The organization's network security administrator can create the elements for
hundreds or even thousands of remote firewalls in a few minutes and send the
initial configuration to the installation cloud. The configurations are stored
in the cloud, waiting for the initial contact from the appliance. Once the
firewall appliances are shipped to the remote site and the cables are plugged
in, the appliances automatically contact the installation cloud and ask for
their initial configuration. The cloud sends the configuration to the appliance,
which then contacts the centralized management server and receives the
predefined security policy.
The new Plug & Play installation, Installation Cloud and Initial Policy Push
features introduced in the StoneGate 5.3 version streamline the installation
process. In addition, the tuning and upkeep of the appliances is extremely
efficient. Unified policy management and fail-safe, automatic updates and
upgrades minimize the time and resources required for administration and
maintenance.
The StoneGate Mass Security Solution is faster, easier and safer compared to
point security solutions typically used at small remote and branch offices.
StoneGate Mass Security is also more cost-efficient as initial installation,
tuning and upkeep require just a couple of minutes per engine annually and all
configurations can be done centrally, without the need to travel and visit each
office on site.
Redundant connectivity through Multi-Link
As part of the StoneGate Mass Security solution, the patented Multi-Link
technology provides secure and redundant connectivity over multiple ISP/CSP
connections. Enabling organizations to ensure the optimal Internet connection at
highly competitive prices, StoneGate Multi-Link(TM) is an attractive alternative
to more expensive point-to-point solutions such as Multiprotocol Label Switching
(MPLS).
New StoneGate Express Firewall appliance family
The StoneGate Mass Security solution is complemented by the new StoneGate
Express Firewall FW-105 appliance family. The appliances provide a cost-
efficient way to deliver security to hundreds of branch and remote offices. The
StoneGate Express FW-105 offers enterprise level security in a compact package,
optimized for the needs of retail chains, consumer electronics, prepaid sales
kiosks, global hotel chains, healthcare services, ATM, vending or gaming
machines, or any distributed organizations with multiple small sites.
StoneGate Express Firewall FW-105 is designed for ease of management and
features low resource consumption. The appliance is available with or without
ADSL & Wifi.
Availability
The StoneGate Express Firewall FW-105 is available in June.
