The Norwegian justice sector chooses EDB ErgoGroup as its total supplier of information register services
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
(Oslo, 20 June 2011) The Norwegian National Police Computing and Material
Service (PCMS), acting on behalf of the Norwegian justice sector, has chosen EDB
ErgoGroup as its total supplier of information register services. The agreement
represents total contract value of at least NOK 35 million over three years.
The justice sector uses some 20 information register databases for case
management, spanning a range from the Folkeregister (population data) to the
Eiendomsregister (real estate data) and the Småbåtregister (pleasure boat
register). Many of the justice sector's major systems are integrated with one or
more of these database sources, for example the police's passport system and the
systems used for criminal and civil case management by the courts.
"We recognise the importance of providing up-to-date and quality-assured
information to meet the justice sector's case management requirements. Our
specialist unit has in-depth knowledge and experience of the regulatory
requirements for using information from authorised databases and the systems
that support this. It is essential to have this level of expertise in order to
operate as a supplier to the public sector in this area", comments Håvard
Larsen, Executive Vice President and Head of the Solutions business area at EDB
ErgoGroup.
EDB ErgoGroup is a leading distributor of quality-assured information to the
corporate market. The company offers its customers access to information through
the infotorg.no portal, mobile solutions and access solutions that are
integrated with the customer's own applications, as well as through services for
checking and maintenance of database portfolios.
Previously, EDB Business Partner and ErgoGroup were major competitors in the
area of information register services. Following the merger that created
Norway's largest IT company, EDB ErgoGroup, these specialist areas have now been
integrated. "By establishing a powerful combined unit to deliver services in
this area, we have further strengthened our expertise and capacity", explains
Håvard Larsen. The company serves a large number of customers from its state-of-
the-art and reliable platform. "We also aim to work with customers to develop
new services in pace with the opportunities that become available through
changes in legislation and the regulatory framework", adds Håvard Larsen.
The contract for the delivery of information register services is one of three
contracts that EDB ErgoGroup has signed with PCMS in 2011. The company already
operates contracts for the delivery of hardware and IT consulting services for
PCMS' new data centre solution that represent total contract value in the order
of NOK 100 million.
