BIMobject AB: BIMobject adds sustainability and environmental data in cooperation with FED Spinoff
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
Today, BIMobject AB (BIMobject) and FED Spinoff - Future Environmental Design
(FED) announce the agreement to cooperate to develop new functionalities and
services for the platform BIMobject(®) Cloud regarding product information on
sustainability and environment. This will allow manufacturers to share data on
the environmental sustainability of their products, and enable designers and
architects to perform sustainability calculations and simulations of BIM-based
projects.
The purpose of the cooperation is for BIM objects in the BIMobject(®) Cloud to
be enriched with data from environmental sustainability certifications. This
will enable designers and architects to make reliable and rigorous calculations
of the environmental impact of their BIM models and building projects, based on
accurate and verified environmental data of each single object and building
material. This information can then be combined with information about for
example site location, transportation, and the supply chain to calculate the
total environmental impact of a project from cradle to gate, in use, and from
gate to cradle.
The goal is for architects and designers to be able to access all environmental
impact data resulting from any available sustainability certification released
according to the ISO 14025 and EN 15804 standards (EPD) or ISO 14040 scheme
(LCA). Particular attention will be paid to EPD (Environmental Product
Declaration) and Life Cycle Assessment analyses.
"This is a very positive development that will help drive a more sustainable
building process. In the future, environmental performance will be an important
selective parameter for designers, which in turn will encourage suppliers to
meet sustainability standards and to acquire proper certifications. We only have
one planet, and the construction industry must take its responsibility in
choosing the materials and products that have the lowest negative impact on the
environment from a life cycle perspective", says Stefan Larsson, CEO and founder
of BIMobject.
Aiming to strategically influence investment policies and help to define
preferential benchmarks, FED Spinoff promotes life cycle-based methodologies as
the fundamental operational tool.
"FED Spinoff aims to introduce sustainability principles in building and design
activities through a strategic approach based on the use of Building Information
Modelling (BIM). Cooperating with BIMobject is a natural next step in the
process of making environmental data more easily available to the design and
architecture community", says Costantino Menna, Project Manager at FED Spinoff.

About BIMobject(®)
BIMobject(®) is a Swedish technology company with a global presence operating at
the forefront of digitalising the building industry. BIMobject provides a cloud-
based platform and powerful technology to make digital product information
available for Building Information Modelling (BIM), allowing its use early in
the building process for visualisation, specification, and analysis. The
platform collects valuable data that streamlines the construction industry
throughout the product lifecycle. More intelligent design and construction lead
to better product selections, reduced waste, and more efficient logistics during
the building process. At the same time, property management benefits from higher
quality, improved use of energy, and lower operating costs.
Today, BIMobject operates in a number of markets and has a global growth
strategy. The company's offerings include development, hosting, management, and
publishing of digital versions of manufacturer products: BIM objects. Its
customers are building and interior product manufacturers who market their
products via the BIMobject(®) Cloud. The user base consists primarily of
architects, designers, and engineers, who access the BIMobject(®) Cloud through
CAD/BIM-applications, apps, and web services. The BIM objects are integrated
into a detailed model of the building, which increases the chance that the real
products will be selected for purchase.
BIMobject is a public company listed on Nasdaq Stockholm First North with the
ticker symbol BIM.

About FED Spinoff
FED Environmental Design was established in 2015 as a spinoff of University of
Naples Federico II. Promoted by young researchers, FED adds value to the
research activities conducted since 2007 at the Department of Structures for
Engineering and Architecture and focused on sustainability in construction
industry as well as on Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodologies
supporting the sustainable integrated design. Therefore, FED's mission is to
provide specialized services of integrated design by means of BIM-based methods
combined with Life Cycle Assessment methodology, applied to construction
materials, processes and buildings.
