Protection of e-charging infrastructures at SPS IPC Drives

(PresseBox) - Infotecs, the international cyber security and threat intelligence provider, will present its security solutions in Nuremberg, Germany from November 28 to November 30, 2017, at SPS IPC Drives, the leading European electric automation exhibition, at stand 140 in hall 10. Together with the HARTING Technology Group, security experts from Infotecs will introduce a software solution that protects e-charger stations and can be used both in the infrastructure and for secure communications in electric cars.

"Establishing critical infrastructures for fueling electric cars creates new challenges both for users and providers, such as protection against targeted cyber-attacks", says Josef Waclaw, CEO of Infotecs GmbH. "With our software-defined VPN technology based on military-grade encryption, we can protect communications both in back-end systems and electric cars, which have data links to power stations for charging and therefore are vulnerable."

According to the German Aerospace Center and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, 35,000 charging stations will be built in Germany by 2020 to achieve the Federal Government?s goal of reaching one million electric cars. This is extremely important because electric charging infrastructures transfer user data and charging process data that can be easily manipulated and compromised through cyber-attacks.

At the SPS IPC Drives exhibition, Infotecs will introduce an integrated security solution that protects the data traffic of electric charging stations and prevents cybercrimes. Infotecs is working on this solution in cooperation with the HARTING Technology Group which produces electromagnetic components for the automotive industry and is a leader in industrial connection technologies and automatic vending systems.

Based on HARTING?s technology, Infotecs is introducing a security gateway integrated into the charging stations, ensuring that data are securely transferred to the remote recipient over the Internet.
