Berlin - Design Hotels AG (m:access, Munich: LBA; ISIN: DE0005141006) today
reports the results for the 1(st) half year of 2011 under IFRS.
Financial Highlights for the Design Hotels Group:
Revenues for the first six months of 2011 grew by approx. 13% to ?4.88m (10H1:
4.32m). All business units contributed to the growth. Revenues from booking
commissions, with 43% still the largest contributor to revenues, increased by
6% to ?2.10m (1.98m). Revenues from membership fees went up by 11% to ?1.38m
(1.23m). Revenues from Marketing Products / Consulting increased by 26% to
?1.40m (1.11m).
The Gross Margin for the first half year came in at 70 (70) percent, the same as
for H1 2010.
The EBITDA for the first half of 2011 was ?99,000 (120,000). Following the
?96,000 operational loss for the first quarter of 2011, the second quarter saw
an operational profit of ?195,000 (134,000).
The EBIT for the first six months was a negative ?51,000 as compared to a ?6,000
profit for the same period last year.
The result after tax came in at a negative ?39,000, whereas for the same period
in 2010 a profit of ?16,000 was recorded. Earnings per share were ? -0.004
(0.0017).
As of 30 June 2011, Design Hotels AG had cash and cash equivalents of ?2.87, as
compared to ?3.31 million as of December 31, 2010. At the end of the reporting
period, shareholders' equity was ?4.89m, as compared to ?4.92m at the beginning
of the financial year. The Company's balance sheet continues to be free of
debt.

CEO Claus Sendlinger commented: "The first half year of 2011 played out largely
as we expected at the beginning of the year. Occupancy and room rates at our
member hotels have been increasing in most destinations. Primary cause for this
is the generally stable economic climate in most regions. This development has
two different effects on our business. As expected, our members have larger
budgets available for marketing. In this area we saw the strongest growth in
2011. In terms of booking commissions we are not able to fully use the market
potential, as the available inventory is limited due to high occupancy at the
member hotels. As mentioned, we see pressure on commission revenue as more and
more bookings are made through the hotels' own websites. Thus, the booking
volume showed a higher increase (22%) than commission revenue which went up by
6%."
"These developments confirm our strategic goals, i.e. to increase our portfolio
of high value marketing services, and to expand the structure of our membership
to be able to further participate in the success of the hotels. First steps in
this direction were made during the first six months of this year by investing
in modern revenue management and customer relationship systems, which add value
to our membership offering. By providing cost-efficient access to highly
developed IT solutions hoteliers get a further competitive advantage. At the
same time, we are able to build a stronger relationship with the end customer."
