OFWAT to Open SMi’s 7th Annual Conference on Smart Water Systems
(firmenpresse) - SMi Group are delighted to have David Black from OFWAT open the 7th Annual conference on Smart Water Systems when it returns to Central London next April.
David is a Senior Director at OFWAT, the economic regulator of the water sector in England and Wales. He currently leads both the Water 2020 programme covering wholesale markets; and the 2019 price review (PR19). With a focus on regulation for innovation and smart water in the UK water industry, his talk will cover key topics surrounding data systems, customers, the PR19 price review, and the development of wholesale markets.
The notable speaker line-up will also include presentations from Thames Water, Southern Water, Severn Water, Anglian Water, Northumbrian Water, Vitens N.V, De Watergroep, Water-Link, Acciona Agua, Dwr Cymru Welsh Water and more.
“In recent years we have seen a rapid growth in interest in smart water systems. This has been fuelled by heightened consumer expectation that we should understand our water networks and take proactive action, in addition to the emerging technological developments in Internet of Things (IoT) communications and data processing,” said Jeremy Heath, conference chair and Innovation Manager from Sutton and East Surrey Water.
“Wholesalers, retailers and the supply chain are all participating in trials. What remains difficult to understand and quantify is the potential costs and benefits of such systems, and as PR19 preparations increasingly focus our minds on these complex questions, we are all coming under increased pressure to provide answers. The conference will therefore allow for informative presentations from subject matter experts in all areas related to smart water systems, and thereby provide a tremendous opportunity for meaningful discussion.”
Smart Water Systems 2018 will take place on 25th and 26th April at the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum in London UK.
