Kesko's sales increased in July by 5.8%

KESKO CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 12.08.2011 AT 09.00 1(2)
The Kesko Group's sales in July 2011, excluding VAT, totalled ?780.0 million,
showing an increase of 5.8%.
In Kesko's food trade, sales in July were ?336.0 million, an increase of 0.4%
compared to the previous year. Sales to the K-food store chains were up by
1.6%. Sales of Pirkka products to K-food stores increased by 28.6%.
In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in July were ?114.6 million, a
decrease of 5.1% compared to the previous year. Sales of Asko and Sotka as well
as Budget Sport and Konebox chains increased.
In the building and home improvement trade, sales in July were ?231.4 million,
an increase of 6.2%. Sales in Finland were up by 6.4%. Sales abroad increased by
6.0% in terms of euros and by 8.9% in terms of local currencies. In the Baltic
countries, sales were up by 7.1%. In Russia, sales increased by 19.0% in terms
of euros and by 20.8% in terms of the local currency.
In the car and machinery trade, sales in July were ?108.6 million, showing an
increase of 46.2%. VV-Auto's sales in July were ?68.7 million, up 43.0%.
Konekesko's sales in July were ?40.1 million, an increase of 52.4%.

Change, % indicates the change over the corresponding period of the previous
year.
The reporting of the sales and sales adjustments of the foreign operations of
the building and home improvement trade has been harmonised, and sales
performance has been calculated based on comparable sales figures.
In July 2011, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland was
21, which was one less than in the previous year. The total number of selling
days in January-July was the same as in the previous year. The number of retail
selling days in July was 31, which was the same as in the previous year. The
total number of retail selling days in January-July was the same as in the
previous year.
