When staying in Dorset, caravan parks make for great family-friendly accommodation. But what if it’s wet? Here are some of our favourite rainy day attractions.

(firmenpresse) - If you’re taking a holiday to Dorset, caravan parks are ideal places to stay, offering a wonderful outdoorsy feel that brings you closer to nature and the Jurassic Coast’s striking scenery.

Of course, like anywhere in England, the weather is not always sunny in Dorset. Caravan parks are still fantastic for looking out upon the local countryside, magnificent come rain or shine, but if you’re facing a downpour, you’ll probably want to make some changes to your itinerary. Here are our recommendations for the best indoor attractions in Dorset.

The Tunnel Target Sports Centre

Try your hand at target practice at the Tunnel Target Sports Centre in Charmouth. Here you can partake of a variety of shooting experiences with all kinds of different guns, including basic rifles, military rifles, sniper rifles, and even a historical experience that offers the opportunity to fire four different rifles from the World War II era. The centre has three different ranges – 25m, 35m and 100m – and is suitable for everyone, no matter your level of experience.

The Tunnel’s location in Charmouth along the Jurassic Coast means that it’s within easy reach of many fantastic Dorset caravan parks, so it should be easy to get there on a rainy day.

Whoopsadaisy

If it’s wet, why not get creative with a visit to Whoopsadaisy, a pottery painting and craft studio in the scenic seaside town of Lyme Regis? Join one of their workshops or just pop in and see what’s on offer.

Paint some pottery, craft something with clay or try out decoupage, where you get to decorate an object with paper cut-outs, paint effects and other ornamentation. Kids and adults alike will love the opportunity to have fun and get creative with all sorts of materials.

Lemur Landings

If you have kids under twelve, take a trip to Lemur Landings in Poole for a rainy day outing that they’ll never forget! It’s one of the county’s biggest indoor entertainment centres, and there’s so much for children to do that they won’t ever get bored.

There’s a climbing area, complete with a low ropes course and climbing walls, a massive multi-level playframe, a multi-slide and more. There are also special sections for youngsters under seven, including children who are not walking yet. All the while, parents can relax in the café and keep an eye on the little ones.

Tower Park

The whole family can escape from the rain at Tower Park Entertainment Centre in Poole, with things to do for all ages. Splashdown Waterpark alone is worth the trip, with a range of exciting flumes and water rides suited to all ages. If you’d rather take in a movie, there’s a Cineworld multiplex, or you can head to the family amusement centre to try your hand at the skill games and maybe win some prizes. What’s more, don’t forget Hollywood Bowl, with bowling lanes, pool tables and arcade machines. Once you’ve worked up an appetite with an action-filled day, there are ten on-site restaurants from which to choose.

When you’re staying in one of the many amazing Dorset caravan parks, you can rest assured that there’ll be plenty to do for the whole family, rain or shine.
