Homburg Invest receives further communication from Netherlands Authority for Financial Markets

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia. August 23, 2011 - (TSX: HII.A & HII.B and NYSE Euronext
Amsterdam: HII) - Homburg Invest Inc. ("Homburg Invest" or the "Company")
announced today that the Company has received a letter from The Netherlands
Authority for Financial Markets ("AFM"), stating that the AFM is not satisfied
with Homburg Invest's compliance with certain elements of the AFM's instruction
previously disclosed on May 26, 2011.
The AFM has indicated in its letter that, after a response period leading up to
September 1, 2011 during which Homburg Invest can submit reasons to the AFM in
support of a different outcome, it intends to revoke Homburg Invest's licence as
a financial institution in The Netherlands, which licence is required to
maintain Homburg Invest's ability to offer "participation rights" (which include
shares) of the Company to investors in The Netherlands.
The letter from the AFM conveys an intention to make a decision and is not
definitive. Homburg Invest is assessing the complete implications of the letter,
and is planning to approach the AFM to address the situation. Despite the non
definitive nature of the letter from the AFM, the Company deems it desirable,
given the nature of the AFM's intention, to make today's announcement and inform
market participants of the receipt of the letter. The Company will provide a
further update to investors in due course.
