Exprivia | Italtel Debuts First Blockchain-Based Solution for Number Portability
i-RPS (Routing & Policy Server) has already been deployed for several communications service providers in EMEA and LATAM. Its evolution, that will be debuted at Mobile World Congress 2019, allows configuration of up to one billion portability entries and eliminates poor customer experience
(firmenpresse) - Milan, Italy, February 18, 2019 – Exprivia | Italtel today launched one of the world’s first Blockchain-based number portability solutions – an updated version of its i-RPS product, a centralized routing and policy engine, which enables consumers to seamlessly switch mobile network providers to take advantage of the best offers while keeping their phone number.
A new large Italian ICT group which develops innovative solutions and services, Exprivia | Italtel has evolved the NFV-ready, blockchain-enabled i-RPS to address the current number portability process which includes a global database that needs to be synchronized with country-specific records, involving semi-manual implementation. This can cause errors such as data mismatches and processing delays.

Exprivia | Italtel’s solution automates synchronization and allows operators to view the full country-specific Number Portability database. The blockchain technology acts in a real-time distributed way, maintaining records with a simplified process which reduces the cost and time of switchovers.

i-RPS - whose evolution will be debuted to the international market at Mobile World Congress 2019 – has already been deployed by several communications service providers in EMEA and LATAM.
i-RPS has achieved the configuration of up to 1 billion portability entries, the generation of up to 500 million of CDR/TDR each day and traffic management of several thousand sessions per second. Furthermore, the operator will see a fast return on investment, breaking even in around one year.
In addition to providing a seamless switching process, i-RPS can also deliver an end-to-end service including the use of Digital Identity for a complete and ready-to-deploy experience.
Exprivia | Italtel will exhibit its innovative i-RPS product, alongside its comprehensive portfolio of 5G solutions for smart services, at Mobile World Congress – Stand 2G10, Hall 2 – at the Fira Gran Via, in Barcelona, Spain, from Monday, February 25 to Thursday, February 28.
