Former Giants & A's Pitcher Among 'Baseball Greats' on Feb. 18 Cruise
(firmenpresse) - FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 08/24/11 -- Baseball fans will have the opportunity to sail with former San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's pitcher Vida Blue and other "baseball greats" on MSC Poesia's Feb. 18, 2012 Caribbean cruise.
MSC Cruises' baseball-themed sailings have been very popular offerings on the line's Caribbean cruises for the several years. "Baseball Greats" Caribbean cruises offer free guest/player activities including a player-hosted trivia game, a question-and-answer session, a guest pitching contest, and a lively story-telling session.
Baseball players host hitting, fielding, base running, and defense strategy clinics. One of the most popular aspects of the experience includes a free autograph session.
Vida Blue was a powerful southpaw who pitched for the Giants, A's and Kansas City Royals. While with the A's, he won more than 20 games three times and was part of the team that won five straight Division and three consecutive World Series Championships. He was also recognized with both the Cy Young Award and league MVP in 1971.
A four-time All Star, Blue was the first pitcher to start All-Star games for both the American and National Leagues.
On Feb. 18, MSC Poesia departs Fort Lauderdale on a 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise roundtrip itinerary that calls at St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Nassau, Bahamas, including three sea days.
Blue is expected to be joined on the sailing by fellow "greats" Randy Hundley, Jessie Barfield, Cookie Rojas and Stan Bahnsen (participating players are subject to change without notice).
Rates begin at $599 per person, double occupancy; government fees and taxes are additional.
