Time to Gear Up: The 2019 Motor Transport Awards
Awards season can be tiring, but the upcoming Motor Transport Awards are the perfect chance for haulage drivers to receive recognition.
(firmenpresse) - After the Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammys, Emmys, Brits, BAFTAs and more, you might be a little bit sick of hearing about awards shows. But there’s at least one more later in the year that haulage drivers should be interested in.
Read on to learn more about this year’s biggest event in the hauliers’ calendar: the 33rd annual Motor Transport Awards (MTAs).
The Motor Transport Awards
Judged by a top team of professionals, the Motor Transport Awards set out ‘to celebrate, recognise and reward excellence in the road freight transport industry’. They’ve been honouring haulage drivers, managers and everyone else in the sector since 1986, and both nominees and victors enjoy a major boost in profile, including top trade coverage.
More than this, the awards are also a great chance to network. The great and the good from across the transport sector come together to meet and make connections, and even just keeping an eye on the show can give you some great ideas on which firms and technologies to invest in.

With 20 prizes in total, the MTAs reward achievement in a variety of sectors, from apprenticeships and customer care to vehicles and tech.
Categories include:
• Best Use of Technology
• Business Excellence
• Fleet Truck of the Year
And there’s more, including a Haulier of the Year award to recognise the crucial contributions of haulage drivers and the companies they work for.
2018 Winners
A number of organisations triumphed at last year’s show, with Whirlpool UK Appliances and Royal Mail walking away with two prizes each. The diversity of categories always means you’re less likely to get one or two firms dominating the night, however, and many others won recognition.
Fleet Truck of the Year went to the MAN TGX, while Stephen Sanderson Transport won Haulier of the Year. Paul Day, meanwhile, managing director of Turners (Soham), was personally honoured with a Service to Industry award. One of the most important prizes on offer, Service to Industry offers a great opportunity to reward outstanding individual contributions.

As well as its importance to the industry, the MTAs are a great time for haulage drivers and industry workers to let their hair down. Last year’s show was hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr and Countdown host Rachel Riley, and few who go along ever complain of boredom.
