(Thomson Reuters ONE) - EXCHANGE RATE FOR 2009 INTERIM DIVIDEND PAYABLE TO SHAREHOLDERS ONTHE SOUTH AFRICAN REGISTERLiberty International PLC confirms that the South African Randexchange rate for the 2009 interim dividend of 5.0 pence per ordinaryshare to be paid on 27 October 2009, to shareholders registered on 2October 2009, will be 12.158 ZAR to 1 GBP. Liberty International is aReal Estate Investment Trust and, as in 2008, has chosen to pay theinterim dividend as a Property Income Distribution ("PID") which willbe subject to deduction of a 20% withholding tax.Accordingly shareholders who hold their shares via the South Africanregister will receive a dividend per ordinary share as follows:Gross amount of dividend 60.790 ZA cents (GBP pence5.0p)Less 20% withholding tax 12.158 ZA cents (GBP pence1.0p)Net dividend payable 48.632 ZA cents (GBP pence4.0p)South African shareholders may apply, after payment of the dividend,to the UK tax authority for a refund of the difference between the20% withholding tax and the UK/South African double taxation treatyrate of 15%. Liberty International will account to UK HM Revenue &Customs in sterling for the tax withheld. Settlement of any claimsfor refund will also be calculated and settled in sterling.The information given above will assist with applications forrefunds.
