Ultra-compact Marvell 8686 based WiFi Module
(PresseBox) - Texim Europe recently introduced the WFMD481 from Flaircomm, an ultra-compact WiFi module based on Marvell 8686 chipset, measuring only 10.4 x 10.5mm. This low power, high performance surface mount module can be used in many portable applications such as smartphones, panel PCs, Ebook e.g.. The intelligent power control of the WFMD481 includes IEEE802.11 power saving mode.
The data transmission supports the IEEE 802.11b/g standard, rating a maximum of 54Mbit/s. The host interface supports SDIO and GSPI. The embedded WEP engine allows 64 or 128 bit encryption with Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP), the module also supports WPA (WiFi protected access). The module supports 802.11e Quality of Service, Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) and WMM-Power Save functionality. The WFMD481 supports WinCE, WinME, Linux and uCos operating systems.
Especially for development there is a WFMD481 development kit available.
