EDB ErgoGroup wins contract for 55 Norwegian prisons
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
(Oslo, 29 August 2011) EDB ErgoGroup's Consulting business area has won an
assignment for the assessment of needs and development of a system for all
inmates in 55 Norwegian prisons and other correctional facilities. The contract
has been awarded by Kriminalomsorgen (the Norwegian Correctional Services), and
was won against tough competition from other Norwegian consulting firms.
EDB ErgoGroup was in competition with six Norwegian consulting firms that
submitted bids for the contract. When the bids were evaluated, EDB ErgoGroup's
proposal scored 97 out of a maximum of 100 points. The agreement runs for three
years, and represents total contractual value in excess of NOK 5 million.
"I warmly welcome the confidence that Kriminalomsorgen has shown in EDB
ErgoGroup by choosing us against strong competition from other consulting firms.
The award of this contract also reinforces EDB ErgoGroup 's position as Norway's
leading consulting operation, and provides further evidence of our
competitiveness in the Norwegian market", comments Hans-Henrik Merckoll, Head of
the Consulting business area at EDB ErgoGroup.
Assessing the needs of convicted persons
All convicted persons are eligible for assessment of their needs while carrying
out their sentences. The objective of the assessment is to identify the needs of
the convicted person in terms of accommodation, education, work, health care,
help with personal finances and other measures relevant to the individual's
return to society upon release. The assessment process is also intended to
facilitate collaboration with other public sector agencies involved with
convicted persons, and to assist research.
Deliveries based on Sharepoint 2010 and eDocument
EDB ErgoGroup is to be responsible for operating the WAN network of the
Kriminalomsorgen IT Service (KITT). The new agreement also provides for the
company to supply KITT with a specialist solution for assessment. The solution
to be developed will be based on MS SharePoint 2010, using eDocument for forms
and templates. Using these standard solutions as the basis for the development
project rather than developing entirely new solutions will significantly reduce
both the programming task and risks associated with the project. The contract
also provides for development and maintenance for three years. Halden prison
will be the pilot location for the project.
