Preparing for a Ski Holiday in St Anton

ID: 601179

A little bit of planning goes a long way. This guide will help you prepare and ensure you make the most of your St Anton ski trip.

(firmenpresse) - St Anton is a wonderful Alpine ski resort renowned for its exhilarating slopes and après ski attractions. Whether you choose to stay in a self-catered or fully catered chalet, St Anton has something for everyone, regardless of your skiing ability or experience.

Whether you’re a complete beginner, intermediate skier or confident expert, you’re bound to feel a bit rusty skiing for the first time in a while. It’s worth thinking about how best to prepare before you hit the slopes this winter – luckily for you I’ve compiled a few tips to think about!

Practice Makes Perfect

Indoor ski slopes have become extremely popular in the UK and warming up to the real thing before your trip is a great way to recap some of the essentials and work on your technique. Aside from this, getting used to the feeling of being on skis can leave you feeling much more confident and better prepared when you’re standing at the top of the real slope.

Prepare Your Body

Snow sports are no walk in the park, and if you take some time to get fit in the run up to your trip, your body will definitely thank you. There are several online guides available to help you get ‘ski-fit’, but any exercise that gives your legs a workout will do wonders for your ski-readiness.

Packing

In terms of clothing, it’s all about layers. Thermal undergarments underneath thin outer layers allow you to keep warm without getting too sweaty. While woolly cotton jumpers might seem like a good idea considering the snowy climate, you can quickly overheat doing exercise and they will likely take up more space in your case than they’re worth.

Waterproof gloves, warm socks and comfortable boots are all sensible items of clothing to pack. Don’t forget, however, that it can be very sunny up on the Alps – make sure to pack sun cream and suitable eyewear. Sunglasses are handy for bright sunshine and it is wise to wear goggles on cloudier days. There are plenty of places to hire the equipment you will need in St Anton, including your skis and helmet.

Pre-booking

Booking the basics before you go can save you money and time. Essentials such as lift passes, lessons and the equipment you will need can often be booked beforehand. Arranging, paying and queuing for these things on your first day can make for a stressful and time-consuming start to your holiday. It is well worth being a little more organised to avoid this hassle.

Accommodation

One of the best options out there is to opt for a catered chalet. St Anton is a brilliant place to stay, allowing visitors access to the entire Ski Arlberg area. There are so many wonderful skiing opportunities here, you will want to make the most of your time on the slopes, and a great way to free up more of your time for the main event is to book a catered chalet. St Anton ski holidays are for skiing, after all, not for worrying about what to cook for dinner.

Just remember, a little bit of planning goes a long way; prepare before your trip and you will be able to make the most of your holiday –you’ll be having a blast on the slopes in no time.
