Beaches Off the Beaten Track in Menorca

ID: 605795

VIsit these spectacular hidden beaches from your Menorca villa and you may just have the sand all to yourselves.

(firmenpresse) - It’s an undeniable fact that Spain is home to the finest beaches in Europe, and the Balearic Island of Menorca has many of the country’s very best. For this reason, visitors in their thousands flock to the island to enjoy rest, relaxation and a little fun on some of the island’s most popular playas, and that’s never going to change!

But the most popular beaches aren’t the only reason to choose this for your next destination, as many of the best ones lie untouched and hidden away on Menorca. Villas located in very convenient locations do make it easier to reach some of the more remote coves, but the golden sands make it worth it no matter how far you have to travel.

Cala Pilar

This fantastic spot is a bit tricky to reach as it’s a bit of a walk from the nearest parking spot, but it rewards visitors with breath-taking views and incredible red and golden sands. The sea is a deep blue here on the north coast, and the forest that surrounds the cove gives it an ambience unlike any other beach you will have been to before.

Sa Torreta

Named for a centuries old watchtower, Sa Torreta is a jewel of a beach. A couple hundred metres of spellbinding white sand greets visitors who make the trip. Being so small and remote there is every chance that those who make the journey will have it mostly to themselves. There are also a few nice examples of local architecture in the area around the water.

At almost three kilometres, the walk to Sa Torreta is not short, but it does involve lovely coastal views as a payoff.

Cala Fustam

Cala Fustam rewards those who make the journey with gorgeous clear blue water, amazing sand and pine trees growing just behind the sunbathing area. Formerly a place for timber harvesting, the area has an interesting history that can be revealed from the log carrying mechanisms that still remain. The route to the beach is a bit tricky and time-consuming, so pack a picnic lunch and set off for a day out from your Menorca villa to enjoy this deserted paradise.

Cala Escorxada

The water at Cala Escorxada is always what first catches the eye of anyone who visits. It is some of the most crystal clear water imaginable and a lazy dip is the perfect way to cool down after an hour or two of sun. The walk to the beach will take around that time, so you’ll want to jump straight in when you arrive.

Where to Stay

The best way to make the most of the island life is with a stay in a fantastic Menorca villa. There are a great many styles and types available, and they provide a great base from which to explore what’s on offer.

Seeking out the hidden gems highlighted in this article might not be for everybody, but for those looking to unwind in peace and tranquillity, the beaches listed above will take your Menorca villa holiday to the next level.
