KUKA Systems builds automated manufacturing lines for solar modules
The solar automation building kit(firmenpresse) - Augsburg / Hamburg, September 2011 - At the EU PVSEC 2011 trade fair in Hamburg, KUKA Systems is once again impressively demonstrating how its wide-ranging automation building kit can also be used to produce solutions meeting individual customer requirements in the energy sector. At Booth C6 in Hall A1 the Augsburg-based technological leader is showcasing the entire spectrum of solutions, starting with the planning of individual manufacturing cells or complete lines and extending to the handover of turnkey systems for the assembly and quality inspection of solar modules.
KUKA Systems is a global supplier of fully or partly automated manufacturing systems to the photovoltaic industry, regardless of the type of PV modules to be produced or the size of the system. The scope of supply includes installation of the automated manufacturing lines or units. Here, after lamination, the solar modules are precisely trimmed, taped, framed, tested and packaged. Each of these "post-lamination" units consists of several robots with accurately tailored tools and handling systems, conveyors and extensive test equipment.
Standard line for 100 MW annual production
The standard assembly line is designed for an annual production capacity of 100 MW, which can be expanded as required to meet higher requirements by adding further manufacturing lines. The system builder from the German region of Swabia welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the success of solar module producers by applying its know-how from the fields of manufacturing automation and solar technology.
Solar sector on growth course
Inspired by the global growth of the solar energy sector, KUKA Systems, one of the world"s leading system integrators for flexible automation concepts, has developed and implemented its own solar manufacturing solutions. These are equally suitable for the industrial production of crystalline, silicon-based solar modules and for the manufacture of panels by the thin-film technique. KUKA Systems" know-how in the energy sector extends from wafer manufacture via the fabrication of solar cells to the production of ready-to-connect PV modules. This helps the manufacturers to strengthen their competitiveness. In the development and building of automated assembly lines for the solar industry, KUKA Systems draws on its decades of experience with the automation of production systems for the world"s leading automotive manufacturers.
