Riverbed Technology argues that its "Whitewater" public cloud storage gateway for data protection "overcomes these (security) concerns and makes public cloud storage a compelling option for backup and archiving." Earlier this summer Riverbed upgraded its Whitewater Appliances with two new small- to medium-sized business (SMB) models and a midrange device.
Earlier this year Juniper Networks put to use its acquisition of Altor Networks with the integration of its vGW Virtual Gateway and its SRX Series Services Gateways. Juniper claims it provides a consistent, virtualization-aware solution for private and public cloud deployments.
