Chinese Authorities Grant iQ Power Another Important Patent for its
Innovative Battery Technology
- Patents safeguard the technology developed by iQ Power against
unauthorized manufacturing and distribution on the Chinese market
Chemnitz/Zug, 5 September 2011 - iQ Power AG (ISIN: CH0020609688, WKN:
A0DQVL, Symbol: IQPB), the developer and marketer of eco-friendly and
technologically advanced starter batteries for motor vehicles, has reached
another significant milestone for its innovative motor-vehicle batteries.
The Chinese patent authorities have granted iQ Power a new and important
patent in connection with the company's exclusive and innovative
electrolyte-mixing technology for starter batteries, which will protect
this innovation on the Chinese market.
'In addition to the patent that was already awarded to protect against
unauthorized marketing and distribution, this newly granted patent lets us
block third parties from illegally manufacturing our innovative
technology,' emphasized Charles Robert Sullivan, the CEO of iQ Power AG.
This patent, which is part of iQ Power's patent pipeline strategy, was
filed for in Germany back in 2008 and submitted for approval in China in
the spring of 2010. This patent protection that has been awarded for China
is effective retroactively and applies into the year 2030. This is one way
that iQ Power is strengthening its position in Asia as part of the
international expansion strategy that it is pursuing.
China will grow to become the world's largest automobile market in the
future, and in turn one of the largest markets for starter batteries. In
recent years the Chinese government has also significantly enhanced the
level of patent protection to the benefit of patent holders.
iQ Power's patented and highly effective electrolyte-mixing feature
improves overall battery performance by protecting against wear, and
preventing the major loss of capacity that usually occurs in starter
batteries caused by acid stratification. The
result is a significantly longer service life, greater cycle stability and
improved battery reliability. iQ Power uses this technology in its
proprietary products and also licenses its use to others.
