Visit Lamole di Lamole on a Chianti Wine Tour
Visit the renowned Lamole di Lamole on a Chianti wine tour and learn so much about the stunning wines of Chianti Classico.
(firmenpresse) - For anyone interested in Italian wines, the region known as Chianti Classico is one of the most important and notable in the country. Encompassing nine municipal territories, the rolling landscape, delicious cuisine and world-class local wines define this magnificent area as one of the most popular places in Europe for wine lovers to visit. There are so many wonderful vineyards dotted throughout the picturesque countryside it would be impossible to see them all, but the best way to experience the best of them is to book on to a Chianti wine tour.
Visit Renowned Vineyards on a Chianti Wine Tour
Which vineyards you get to visit on an organised Chianti wine tour will, of course, depend on the operator. That’s why it’s so important to ensure you do your research and make an informed choice, preferably with an operator that uses friendly local guides and includes visits to renowned vineyards on their itinerary.
One such vineyard is Lamole di Lamole, set deep in the hills in the northern part of the region.
Lamole di Lamole
Located in the rolling countryside about 650m above sea level, this is the upper limit of the ‘terroir’ for the Sangiovese grape, which thrives in the rocky sandstone and limestone soil. It is this rich, unique soil that is so conducive to the superb finish of the region’s iconic reds. The terraces of the vineyards are supported by ancient dry stone walls, which, intriguingly have multiple purposes: to limit erosion and assist in drainage, but also to reflect the sunlight (promoting photosynthesis) and retain the heat collected during the day.
The Historic Winery
While the cellars here date back to the fourteenth century, the estate in its ‘modern’ incarnation was established in the later part of the 1940s, after the Second World War. The estate encompasses a vast 288 hectares, with around a quarter of that under vine. The estate is proudly cultivated and operated under entirely organic measures – something of which it is extremely proud.
A Chianti wine tour that includes a stop off here will allow visitors to do a tour and tasting. After an introduction in the Salotto, guests are taken through the centuries-old vineyards as well as a new, experimental one. Also included is a fascinating and atmospheric tour of the cellars, which sees state-of-the-art technology side-by-side with ancient techniques, and a chance to see the historic casks and barrels. The final stop is usually in the Vinsantaia, where the famous Vinsanto ages, before guests enjoy extensive tastings.
Sample the Selection
Those lucky enough to visit Lamole will have the opportunity to taste some of its award-winning wines, which include:
Riserva
Chianti Classico (DOCG and DOCG Blue Label)
Lam’Oro
Gran Selezione
Vinsanto
This very well respected vineyard comes highly recommended as one of the best places to gain an all round understanding and experience of the Chianti Classico wines. If you book on to a tour with a reputable operator, not only will you be able to relax and allow them to take care of all the details, you’ll also have the benefit of a local guide who is highly knowledgeable in the local wines.
