(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/06/11 -- Today, Minister of State Maxime Bernier (Small Business and Tourism), and chair of the Red Tape Reduction Commission, announced the Commission has taken another step toward cutting job-killing red tape with the release of the Commission's What Was Heard Report.

"Jobs and growth will remain our government's top priority," said Minister of State Bernier. "As the release of today's report demonstrates, our government is listening to small business owners and entrepreneurs to find the best ways to cut red tape and reduce unnecessary paperwork. That way, small business owners can concentrate on what they do best: creating jobs and wealth for this country."

The Report captures the core issues that were identified during the consultation process that took place between January and March 2011. Through points raised at roundtables across Canada, as well as in written submissions and comments sent in through the Commission's online consultations, entrepreneurs identified many examples of the challenges they face due to red tape-challenges that affect their ability to concentrate on their businesses, innovate, and compete successfully.

Commission members met today with representatives of key business associations to gain a deeper understanding of the potential of the proposed solutions in the What Was Heard Report, and how these solutions could best be implemented. Members of the business community are also invited to send their views on these solutions to the Commission through an online questionnaire, available on the Commission's website at .

The Commission intends to make its final recommendations to the Government in the coming months on how best to address the issues set out in its What Was Heard Report.
