Verlo Mattress Factory Stores Launch Pink Tape Bed to Support Breast Cancer Awareness
Proceeds From Pink-Edged Mattress Go to Local Breast Cancer Charity
(firmenpresse) - FORT ATKINSON, WI -- (Marketwire) -- 09/06/11 -- Verlo Mattress Factory Stores is launching pink-edged mattresses in its stores and a portion of the proceeds will go to local charities that work with breast cancer survivors and for cancer research.
The program is part of Verlo's observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Customers who order mattress sets from participating Verlo Mattress Factory Stores can choose pink closing tape at no extra cost. For each order, the local Verlo store will make a donation to a breast cancer charity or related group in its own community. The amount of the donation increases with the cost of the set.
"We wanted to do something appropriate for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this program allows the local franchises to decide which community group will benefit," said George Holder, Verlo's Chief Operating Officer. "At Verlo, we take great pride in the fact that our mattresses are built locally, right in our stores, and our local owners know their communities and which charities need help."
The special pink taping is available as an option on any Verlo mattress purchased through Oct 31, 2011. Verlo has also put together special pink "travel kits" with a pink blanket and pink pillow that local participating stores can use to raise additional money for donations.
Each year, nearly 4,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed among women in Wisconsin and 700 women in the state will die of the disease, according to the Wisconsin Women's Health Foundation. Nationwide, one in every six women will develop breast cancer.
"Verlo has been active in local communities for over half a century," said Holder. "Anything we can do to support charities that help our customers cope with breast cancer is important to us."
