Industries that Use Reverse Osmosis Water Systems
There are many businesses across a range of industries that may make use of a reverse osmosis water system, these are just a few.
(firmenpresse) - Reverse osmosis water systems have become widely used in industrial and commercial settings, both as a way to improve operational processes and, in many cases, decrease costs. They have a vast array of applications and are being employed in a growing number of sectors.
Below is a selection of just some of the industries in which manufacturers or businesses may have need for a reverse osmosis water system.
Agriculture
As the largest user of freshwater in the world, the agriculture industry has a pressing need for technology like this. With increasingly scarce access to uncontaminated groundwater, a purification system can be a valuable asset in terms of a process for reusing waste for irrigation. Because irrigation requires a less stringent process than for many other purposes, the agriculture industry can use both treated grey water and effluent as a source for this process.
Hospitals
Within the context of a hospital, there is a range of applications that may require the use of a purification system. Not only can the purification process be used to enhance food service and boiler feeds, it can also provide a pure, sterile product for use in medical treatments; haemodialysis (the process used to clean blood) is just one example.
Wastewater Processing
There are many industries that are able to use a reverse osmosis water system to treat and make use of grey or contaminated water from processing, manufacturing and even effluent, and reuse it without risk of harm to the environment. Using this process may not only help reduce their operating costs, by lowering the amount of fresh water they use, they’re also playing a valuable ecological role.
The Marine Sector
By using a reverse osmosis water system to remove salinity, seawater can be used for a variety of purposes in the marine industry, including on fishing boats, military vessels, cruise ships, oil tankers and container ships.
Energy
The technology can be used in the creation of water-cooling technology in industrial processing, as the purity of the product makes it highly effective in heat absorption. It can also be useful as a semiconductor (able to both conduct and insulate) in large format and complex electrical systems.
Disaster Relief
The military has particular applications for these purification systems in terms of being able to provide effective disaster relief by delivering decontaminated water that may have been infected by bacteria, metals or bio organics.
Rinsing
By removing soluble salts, calcium and magnesium (for example), in manufacturing plants and businesses where clean, spot-free rinsing is important – for instance a car wash – the treatment can ensure the provision of a much higher quality of service, with no spot residue or scaling.
There are so many industries turning to this cost-effective and ecologically friendly technology. While the ones mentioned above are some of the more common, there are plenty more and the numbers are increasing all the time.
