WeeWorld to Speak at Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference
Pauline Malcolm-John Invited to Join Panel on High-Tech Leadership

(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 09/08/11 -- Social gaming leader today announced that VP of Sales Pauline Malcolm-John will speak at the 41st Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference () Legal Issue Forum in Washington, D.C. on September 23, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Invited by U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Pauline will be a panelist on a session about diversifying innovation titled, "African-Americans Should be Part of the Leading Edge of the High Tech Boom."
"Continuing President Obama's 'Startup America Initiative,' we view this event as another step toward creating jobs and wealth in our communities," said Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. "Pauline is a prominent African-American woman in technology with extensive domain expertise in social media sales and marketing, and we think she will add a critical perspective to this important dialogue."
Despite the current growth of new tech startups leveraging social graph, mobile, cloud and clean technologies, recent studies have shown that only one percent of startups that receive funding have African-American founders. The 25,000 expected attendees will explore the current technological entrepreneurship and venture capital investment trends, and examine tangible means for increasing minority participation and leadership within the space. Pauline's session will bring together technology policy makers, leading venture capitalists, and successful technology entrepreneurs, to discuss and find solutions to the challenges facing minority participation within the technology arena.
"We already knew Pauline was a sales and marketing powerhouse in our industry, but are thrilled to see her getting the national recognition she deserves," said Celia Francis, CEO of WeeWorld. "We share Pauline and the CBCALC's commitment to executive diversity and equality."
The CBCALC plays a critical role in determining the legislative agenda for the CBC and for the U.S. Congress, as well as playing a role in pursuing feasible solutions to the most significant concerns of the African American community.
