Aker Solutions awarded FEED contract for upgrading of Gullfaks A
drilling facilities
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - 30 September 2009 - StatoilHydro has awarded Aker Solutions a frontend engineering design (FEED) study for upgrading the Gullfaks Adrilling facilities. The drilling upgrade is expected to extend theproductive lifetime of Gullfaks A. Contract value is estimated to beapproximately NOK 50 million."This is an important project for Aker Solutions and of strategicimportance for our position in the drilling upgrade market. The study will consider the possibility to upgrade thedrilling capacity to reach 10 kilometers, including heavy lifting toinstall a new derrick. The FEED will also include improvement ofenvironment, health and safety (HSE) upgrading for the equipment tobe better suited for the increased longitude. The object is toinstall top modern equipment and automated offshore installation.Work under the contract starts immediately and the FEED will becompleted in April 2010.The FEED Study will be performed by the Aker Solutions' drillingequipment business hub in Kristiansand together with the company'scentre of maintenance and modification expertise based in Bergen. Thecontract party is Aker Solutions' subsidiary Aker Offshore PartnerAS.In March, Aker Solutions was awarded the engineering, procurement,construction and installation (EPCI) contract for upgrading thedrilling facilities on the Oseberg B platform.
