Swinton Sees Surge in Van Insurance Policies After Rise in New Vehicle Registrations
(firmenpresse) - MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 09/12/11 -- Swinton Commercial is offering advice to van drivers looking to update their vehicle after the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders announced an increase in new vehicle registrations.
For the month of August SMMT revealed that new vehicle registrations were up 7.3% for the same period in 2010.
The retailer sees the increase as a welcome boost to the motor trade industry, which was hit hard in the recession. It is offering the following advice to van drivers who are now able to update their vehicle:
- Think about the fuel efficiency of the van, choosing a van that uses less fuel will save you money in the long term
- Choose a van that is the right size for your everyday needs, but also has sufficient load capacity. It is against the law to drive an overloaded vehicle
- Think about the engine size, a van that will be driven on longer journeys such as motorways may need a larger engine, while a smaller city centre delivery van will need a smaller engine.
- Ask family, friends, and co-workers to share their knowledge of various makes and models of vans and also look at independent websites that will compare and contrast makes and models
- Test drive a few different vehicles to get a better feel of which model will suit you
- Check the policy before you purchase as a new van may carry a higher premium
