(Thomson Reuters ONE) - OUTOTEC OYJ PRESS RELEASE, OCTOBER 6, 2009 AT 10.00 AMOutotec delivers copper recovery plant to Pueblo Viejo's gold mine inthe Dominican RepublicOutotec has made an agreement worth approximately EUR 16 million withPueblo Viejo Dominicana Corporation, owned jointly by Barrick GoldCorporation and Goldcorp Inc. The contract covers the supply of acopper recovery plant based on Outotec® Sulfide Precipitation Processto Pueblo Viejo's gold mine in the Dominican Republic.Outotec's scope of delivery includes engineering, proprietary andprocess equipment, instrumentation and automation, as well assupervisory services and spare parts. The plant is supplied asprefabricated skid-mounted units, minimizing the amount of site workand ensuring fast track implementation. The units will be pre-testedat the workshops to ensure safety of the operations. The new plant isscheduled to be commissioned at the end of 2011.The ore treated in the gold leaching process contains copper, whichis removed as copper sulfide. Outotec has developed the CopperSulfide Precipitation Process, which in collaboration with BarrickGold Corporation, will be applied in the Pueblo Viejo project. Thisapplication utilizes Outotec's proprietary OKTOP® reactor technologyand Paques THIOTEQ® bioprocess as hydrogen sulfide source."This contract is a significant breakthrough in combining Outotec'shydrometallurgical expertise and Paques' biotechnology in copperproduction.
