UMBC Training Centers Delivers Professional Training to Veterans Using the Post 9/11 GI Bill

(firmenpresse) - BALTIMORE, MD -- (Marketwire) -- 09/19/11 -- Beginning on October 1, 2011 students eligible for Post 9/11 (Chapter 33) GI Benefits will have the ability to participate in UMBC Training Centers' Veteran Approved professional certification programs.
In the past, veterans of the United States military only had the option of using the Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30) benefits when taking part in noncredit, professional certification programs since the more attractive and streamlined Post 9/11 benefits were only available for degree seeking individuals. The recent policy change by the Department of Veterans Affairs to allow Post 9/11 benefits to be used for workforce training programs should help to stimulate career growth for U.S. service men and women transitioning into the private sector.
UMBC Training Centers has seen a large number of students using grants from the Department of Veteran Affairs for career training programs in areas of Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Project Management. Now, individuals who do not qualify for grant funding may participate in these training programs using the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Training Centers' Accounting Manager, Misti Hagy, stated, "Many of Training Centers' students are current or former military members. We've always done our best to provide these students with assistance and guidance when it comes to their benefit eligibility. We're happy to announce that students will now have the option to use their Post 9/11 benefits to cover some of their costs."
Training Centers currently offers the following programs approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for GI Bill funding:
Certificate in Computer and Network Technology
CompTIA A+
CompTIA Network+
Certificate in Information and Network Security
CompTIA Security+
EC Council's Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
