United States Patent and Trademark Office Issuing the Sweetfields(R) Patent
Patent Advances the Art of Making Non-Perishable Flower-Derived Food Items
(firmenpresse) - JAMUL, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/20/11 -- Sweetfields, Inc., the leading producer of real candied edible flowers, will have its patent issued on October 4, 2011 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The processes and compositions of the invention result in patentable edible or non-edible non-perishable, flower-derived food items that have improved durability, appearance, scent, and flavor, as compared to currently available candied or crystallized flowers. The finished products more closely resemble fresh, untreated flowers than do products produced with conventional methods and the opportunity to visually enhance the flower items with decorative components is also protected. Unlike their fresh counterparts, Sweetfields flowers have an extended shelf-life when stored properly.
"This patent plays an integral part in the mass growth of our business! Not only have we been able to significantly improve the quality and shelf-life of candied flowers, but the invention also furthers the art of making candied flower material by introducing scalable processes that allow mass production," states John Clemons, Sweetfields' Founder and Patent Inventor.
Sweetfields is a family-owned and operated business located in Southern California that grows flowers and transforms them into edible works of art. All of the flowers originate on the company's 33-acre farm in Jamul and are grown with organic principles. Sweetfields offers Violas, Pansies, Giant Pansies, Snap Dragons, Mini Roses, and Rose Petals with the following innovative finishes: SweetCrystal™ (crystallized), SweetGlaze™ (glazed and water resistant), SweetDust™ (semi-glazed, gold or silver dusted, and water resistant), or SweetCustom™ (custom creations).
